About NZEB

Nearly Zero Energy Builds Opendoors Event

Why?

The NZEB standard will be in place EU-wide by 2019 for all new public buildings and by 2021 for all new buildings. The NZEB standard for dwellings in Ireland will be set at 45 kWh/m2/year (an A2 rating) and is to be introduced in Ireland in 2017.

What?

The weekend of 11th – 13th Nov 2016, owners of low energy buildings will open their doors to the public nationwide during the NZEB Open Doors event. Supported by SEAI, the event will enable the public to visit good examples of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) in order to inspire them to aim for similar standards for their own building or renovation projects.

Who?

NZEB Open Doors events took place in Europe in 2013 and 2014 under the NZEB 2021 programme promoted by EU's Intelligent Energy Europe programme and overlapped with the International Passive House Days.
